Deep learning has permeated just about every industry, and its impact on our lives will only continue to grow. It is the driving force behind technologies such as machine translation, autonomous driving, and speech recognition. While deep learning is not a brand new technology, recent developments in computing hardware, especially GPUs, have made training deep neural networks (DNNs) on large datasets feasible. The tech behemoths (Google, Amazon, Facebook, Microsoft) have all invested huge amounts of money into developing their artificial intelligence arms (and they are not the only ones). Consequently, there is a great demand for talent in the field. If you believe deep learning is of interest to you, please check out some of Clemson students' showcases made possible by deep learning.
